Father Charged With Murder After Punching Infant

Posted by admin on Thursday, 15 April, 2010

This story just breaks my heart, how is it that a father could do such a thing to his baby? A 20-year-old father is charged with murdering his 7-month-old son, after confessing he punched his crying baby in the chest, . Full Story The father who watched the seven month old child for his teen mother who was attending school. Apparently the story goes on to say that the father had jealousy issues over how much time the mother was spending with the child, HELLO!, I’m sorry that is what your suppose to do, is give your baby ample love and nurture them so they can thrive and become loving and caring adults.

The father had apparently confessed to one of the investigators that he was trying to toughen him up. Toughen Him Up? For what, war, a life of crime? This completely baffles my logic, so many abused babies suffer abuse from their fathers for many different reasons, most commonly is shaken baby syndrome, as research has shown that a crying baby is the number one trigger leading a caregiver to violently shake a baby sometimes causing severe trauma to their baby’s brain. Unfortunately, there are quite a number of medically fragile babies that have fallen victim from such an atrocity and as a result were robbed of a normal childhood and now are either g-tube fed, blind, severely mentally impaired, suffer behavioral problems or in some cases “all of the above” for the rest of their lives.

Young parents especially teenagers, should be required to under go parenting classes as well as a class from the National Center for Shaken Baby Syndrome. So they can be better prepared to move into parenthood and give their new baby the love and devotion it requires.
